Please see the below FAQ guide for answers to your questions:

Q:  How do I submit a proposal?
A:  You can find our easy electronic proposal form located here.

Q:  When does Summer Camp run?
A:  Summer Camp runs Monday – Thursday from July 9th – August 16th.  Campers arrive between 7:30-8:00 a.m.  Sessions begin promptly at 8 a.m.  Sessions will end at 3 p.m.

Q:  Where does Summer Camp take place?
A:  Due to construction, this year, Summer Camp will take place at Sidney’s Jr/Sr High School.

Q:  What is the schedule like?
A:  Each session runs for 90 minutes. There are four sessions each day, plus lunch, which is served from 11 a.m.-Noon. During lunch, staff will rotate and assist with lunch.

Q:  Why do I need to submit a proposal?
A:  The Sidney Central School District is proud of the Summer Camp program and works hard for students to have a learning experience all while having FUN.  We request that proposals be submitted using one of the following categories: STEM, art/music, cooking, physical activity, computers or literacy.

Q:  Do I have to be a teacher at Sidney to submit a proposal?
A:  No!  We’re now accepting external proposals to fill our vacancies.

Q:  Can I submit more than one proposal?
A:  Absolutely!  Students love variety.  If you’re looking to teach different camps each week please submit a proposal for each camp.

Q:  Are there any other activities offered for students?
A: Yes!  Students can elect to participate in a variety of sports camps, including swimming lessons.  We’re pleased to also offer field trips on Fridays for students who choose to attend.

Q:  How do I obtain supplies if my proposal is selected?
A:  A list of supplies is requested in your proposal.

Q:  How big of a group will I have each session?
A:  It’s a little hard to say now, since student registration has not started yet, but you should expect no more than 15 and no less than 5.

Q:  Will there be any chance of having a class assistant?
A:  Yes!  All classrooms will have one teacher AND one to two counselors.

Q:  I already have a planned vacation; can I still submit a proposal if I can’t attend every session you have an opening for?
A:  Yes!  When you submit your proposal, you’ll be able to select the week(s) you’re available.

Q:  I’m interested, but I’ve only been to the district once before?
A:  A staff orientation will be held on June 27th.  It will provide staff and counselors a chance to access classroom space and inventory supplies.  Most importantly, it will provide an opportunity to meet and plan with others teaching the same age group, category, and/or week as you.

Q:  Do you have any ideas or inspiration for a camp?
A:  Your imagination is the limit!  But we’ve put together some ideas.  You can find them on the right side of this page.

Q:  I have another question that wasn’t covered.  What do I do?
A: Please contact Aaron Zurn at azurn@sidneycsd.org or Kerrie Johnston at kjohnston@sidneycsd.org.
