The Sidney Central School District will send two juniors to Boys State this year.

Glenn Rogers and Wyatt Kiff were selected for this year’s event.

Boys State will be held from June 27-July 2 at SUNY Morrisville. The conference gives boys from across the state the opportunity to participate in an educational program focusing on participation and personal experience in a model state.

It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its respective state government, while providing training in practical citizenship, leadership, and character development through a non-partisan perspective.

Past participants in the program include former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Dick Cheney, Neil Armstrong, Tom Brokaw, and Michael Jordan.

The Sidney students were nominated by high school faculty. In order to be considered, students must rank in the top 50 percent of their class; possess outstanding qualities of leadership, character, honesty, cooperation and maturity, as well as being physically fit.
