Sidney CSD holds staff development day

On a daily basis, there are a lot of amazing learning opportunities in the classrooms at the Sidney Central School District.

There is a tremendous amount of participation in peer observation days, and many examples of excellence are shared during collaborative times.

Building off that, the district recently provided all staff the chance to see examples of new ideas during a district conference day earlier this month.

Sidney teachers led sessions, showing new ideas, implementation of strategies, behavior management techniques, and data collection.

The morning concluded with sessions from Visions Federal Credit Union that provided insight on money management, retirements, and saving for college.

The afternoon session included a presentation on Sidney’s Farm to School initiative by Kevin Brouillard, Farm to School Corps member. Also, all staff participated in a Mental Health 101 from Kathy Eckert, regional representative for Central New York School Mental Health Resource and Training Center. The presentation provided basic knowledge of mental health, wellness, and recovery in an effort to reduce stigma.

The day concluded with the administrative team, local law enforcement, and Rick Shaw of DCMO BOCES facilitating a session on emergency planning.
