SSADD club hosts field day
Sidney Students Against Destructive Decisions (SSADD) held its inaugural field day event at the high school on June 1.

SSADD is a new club at the school. It is made up of 75 students with the purpose of focusing on high-risk behaviors, decision-making skills, developing the adolescent mind, and improving the overall well-being of our students. One agenda for the club is to begin a mentoring program with Sidney elementary students before they enter high school. Students will work with each other throughout the school year in various extra-curricular activities.

The inaugural event, which was a big brother/sister, little brother/sister event, allowed the high school kids to mingle and work with fifth graders. Students were introduced to their teams, and the younger students had a chance to sit with their older counterpart. A picnic was held in the transportation center, as well as leaders from the club speaking to give insight about the club.

The day ended with a field events tournament, where 10 teams made up of fifth-graders and high school students competed together.
