Sidney CSD names new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Special Programs
The Sidney Central School District named Kerrie Johnston as the new Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Special Programs.

The Board of Education approved the appointment at its December 20 meeting.

Johnston comes to Sidney from DCMO BOCES, where she’s served as the director of instructional support services since July 2006.

At Sidney, Johnston will supervise curriculum and instruction, school improvement, principals, special programs, and special education.

“It is an honor to be selected as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Special Programs at Sidney Central School District,” Johnston said. “I look forward to joining an amazing group of staff and students.”

At BOCES, Johnston oversees a team of 12 administrators and support staff who provide professional development, resources, and support to 16 component districts, as well as two BOCES instructional campuses. She is responsible for program development, implementation, continuous evaluation for school improvement services, school library systems, teacher center, and enrichment services.

“We are really pleased to add Kerrie to our administrative staff,” Sidney Superintendent Dr. Bill Christensen said. “Her experience is vital for our continued academic improvement and district growth.”

Johnston holds a master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University, a certificate of advanced study, school administrator supervisor from SUNY Cortland, and she completed the Future Superintendents Academy, LEAF, in May if 2015.

Johnston begins with Sidney in February.
