Sidney CSD Smart Schools plan approved

The Sidney Central School District Smart Schools Investment Plan was recently approved at the state level, allowing the district to move forward with plans for more high-tech security features for the school.

The district’s plan includes items being worked on during the current capital project.

Items the Smart Schools Investment Plan include are as follows:

• Creation of a new high school secure vestibule and relocation of main office
• Creation of new elementary/middle school vestibule and relocation of main office
• Increase number of cameras at the district, specifically in high-traffic areas
• Door access control

“We are pleased we can do this with the current project,” Sidney Superintendent Dr. Bill Christensen said. “The projects will be covered all by state money and no local money will have to be used.”
