Elementary students get a chance to explore future

This year in the elementary school, college and career exploration is playing a big role.

The hope, of course, is students having an idea what they want to be or what path they might want to take when they grow up by the time they leave elementary school. To reinforce that idea, all students are participating in college and career exploration lessons instructed by a school counselor.

On top of that, all sixth-grade students had the chance to take a field trip to SUNY Delhi and Sportsfield Specialties.

The students had the opportunity to tour Delhi’s campus and visit different programs to help give them an idea of what college is like and what types of majors they could study.

Sportsfield Specialties, a manufacturing facility in Delhi, offered a chance for students to speak with different employees about their jobs, as well as the education and training needed. They also toured the facility, which makes sports equipment for schools (including Sidney) and professional sports teams.

Each of these opportunities provided students with a valuable learning experience, which will hopefully help them create goals for the future.
