An Evening in the Garden a successful night
Students at A Night in the Garden

The Sidney Elementary School hosted “An Evening in the Garden” on September 12, using the event to celebrate the farm-to-table activities in the district.

Held in the SES gardens, student members of the Green Thumb Growers Guild and the elementary garden club led tours of the garden, served food and beverages, ran a farm stand, and answered questions.

Students in grades 3-6 participated. Many people from within the district and community came out to support the program and students. The event ran for about an hour.

The Sidney Farm-to-Table program is a series of wellness-related events, which encompass many things. That includes once-a-month showcases of local foods in healthy dishes at SES, a student-led farmer’s market, and a gardening club.

Sidney CSD’s food services prepared the food for the evening, which was served by students. Under the program, the school harvests school-grown vegetables to use for students and community.
