Interact raises money for American Cancer Society
This past fall, the Sidney Central School Interact Club set out to raise money for the American Cancer Society via a no-shave November event.

Though several teachers and students pledged not to shave for the month, the club raised only $30 when it was over. During the January club meeting, they decided to increase the total from its treasury.

On Wednesday, the club handed Heather Brewster of the American Cancer Society a check for $500.

The Interact Club is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14-18. The goal of the club is to improve their community, develop leadership skills, and make a difference in the world.

Other activities the group has participated in this year is serving at two community sponsored pancake breakfasts, gardening outside the Sidney Memorial Public Library, volunteering for bell ringing service with the Salvation Army, help elementary students during the school’s family engagement night, and volunteering at Breakfast with Santa and a talent show.
