Sidney CSD has successful 8th year of summer camps
This summer marked the eighth consecutive year the Sidney Central School District has offered summer camps to area youths.

The camps, which ranged in topics and themes, are held yearly for grades K-8. For a minimal cost, kids have the chance to be involved with enrichment programs daily over a six-week span.

Besides camps, breakfast and lunch were free to all youths up to age 18.

A total of 240 different students participated throughout the summer. Students didn’t have to commit to every week of camp. The weekly breakdown is as follows:
  • Week 1: 156
  • Week 2: 156
  • Week 3: 139
  • Week 4: 126
  • Week 5: 147
  • Week 6: 122
The district also offered peer mentoring for 7th and 8th grade students. Several Sidney juniors and seniors worked with middle school students to give tips on how to get ready and prepare for high school.

“I am extremely pleased with our camps and the success they continue to have,” Sidney Superintendent Bill Christensen said. “These opportunities are there for the students, giving them a chance to enjoy summer and still have incredible enrichment activities.”
