Students selected to attend HOBY conference
Sophomore Lilly Hinkley was named Sidney’s Hugh O’Brian Leadership (HOBY) ambassador from Sidney Central School.

Steven Smith, also a sophomore, was named the alternate ambassador.

HOBY is a leadership opportunity founded by former actor O’Brian in 1958. The organization’s mission is to inspire youth from around the world to pursue lives of leadership and service. Since its beginning, more than 445,000 students have participated in leadership seminars. HOBY has programs in all 50 states, as well as 20 countries.

Through the continued generous support of the Kiwanis Club, both Hinkley and Smith will attend the conference, which will be held in June at SUNY Oneonta.

The weekend’s events include participation in informative workshops and activities with other high school ambassadors from across the state, as well as community service projects.

Hinkley is the daughter of Jessica Hinkley of Sidney, and Andrew Hinkley of Unadilla. Smith is the son of Rose and Scott Smith of Sidney.
