Summer roof project on schedule
Summer roof project on schedule
The roof work being done at the Sidney Central School District is on schedule and should be finished by the August 28 deadline.

This summer, 13 roofs in the district needed work, which included removing an existing coating to find wet spots, extract those parts, and then replace to bring them up to code. The work has been going on since the last week in June.

At this point, the roof foam is basically completed. Two roofs on the high school have old metal being replaced by new metal and that work is currently being done. The roof over the pool is getting a new rubber coating and that part is starting this week.

The summer project carries a price tag of about $1.4 million, said Carl Stewart, the construction superintendent for Turner Construction, which is overseeing the project. Henderson-Johnson, a company out of Syracuse, is the contractor doing the work on the roofs.

“We have to be done by August 28 and we are well on target for that,” Stewart said. “I’m very happy. Henderson-Johnson is a reputable firm. They’ve done work in the roofs for the district in the past.”
