Fourth graders use trucks and dragsters for lesson
Ten trucks and dragsters, donated by the Hess Corp., have been at the center of a lesson for fourth graders in Deb Vaughan’s class about force, motion, friction, and energy.

The class has been learning about friction and the effects of different road surfaces on toy trucks. Students worked on five surfaces, collected test data, and determined the average distance traveled on each surface.

In the end, students determined that cardboard provided the best surface, and carpet was the worst.
