Voters approve 2017-18 Sidney CSD budget
Voters in the Sidney Central School District went to the polls on Tuesday, May 16 and approved the district’s proposed 2017-18 school budget of $26,778,081.

The budget had an increase of 2.48 percent, but an estimated tax levy of -1.37 percent.

The final tally was:

Yes: 148
No: 31

Voters also elected Marisa Orezzoli and Amanda L. Finch to Board of Education seats. Each candidate received 157 votes.

“Once again, we are very thankful for the continued support of our school budget,” Sidney CSD Superintendent Dr. Bill Christensen said. “We realize the tremendous responsibility of educating our youth and to also do it in fiscally responsible way. This is another great win for our children and we promise to continue to improve our educational program and maintain the same fiscal awareness.”

In a second proposition, voters also approved the budget for the Sidney Memorial Public Library, passing it by a count of 156-23. Kenneth Howard was elected to the board with 163 votes.
