Sidney FFA banquet held

The Sidney CSD FFA recently celebrated its 49th annual awards banquet, hosted by the Sidney Fire Department.

FFA members were recognized for achievements throughout the year. The banquet commenced with members of the Sidney Teachers Association arriving to award agriculture teacher Jay Waltz as the Teacher of the Year.

Students recognized were as follows:
  • Dante Scott: Agriscience Stars and Stripes Award for his leadership abilities and dedication to the FFA throughout the school year; 
  • Elijah Williams, Remington Crandall, Michael Mazzarella, and Justin Santiago for maintaining the highest overall GPA in their class as agriculture students; 
  • Renae Finch the Star Greenhand Degree for being the top first-year member; 
  • DaKota Cotton the Star Chapter Farmer for her leadership in the FFA and her dedication to her supervised agricultural experience. 
Many students were also recognized for receiving their Greenhand degree, as first-year members; and Chapter degree as second- and third-year members.

Larry Hulbert of the Sidney Rotary Club presented a scholarship of $310 to Kiana Bacon so she can attend leadership training at Oswegatchie Education Center this summer.

Marylin Anderson, a Sidney FFA alum, presented more than $2,500 in camp scholarships.
