Sophomores present human rights projects
Sidney Central School 10th graders worked on an integrated Global Studies and ELA project that culminated with them presenting on stage to their peers.

Students researched a specific human right violations event in the 20th century, created a claim to explain what caused the violation to occur, and then had to partner with another student who researched a different event.

The partners had to synthesize a new claim that explained what caused both of those human rights violations events to occur.

The partners created a presentation, and had to include an artifact that has significant meaning in both events. The students then fielded questions from their peers in the audience.

For many students, it was the first time they were on stage using a microphone to make a presentation.
