Colonial America concert held for fourth graders
Fourth graders at Sidney Elementary got a treat last week when Dave Ruch performed for them in the middle school library with his Colonial America concert.
A performer and teaching artist, Ruch has been visiting schools for more than 20 years. Ruch had an assortment of musical instruments, performing songs from the colonial times. His show was interactive with students, giving kids the chance to sing along or, at one point, perform up front with him.
The fourth graders were prepared for Ruch, singing some songs with him and answering questions. The grade has been studying Colonial trades, so the concert fit in well with the current curriculum.
