Sidney students this week are taking a stand against texting and driving.
During their lunch period, students in grades 9-12 are being asked to sign a poster pledging not to text and drive. In turn, they’ll receive a thumb bracelet to show their support for this cause.
The students who put this together are part of Sidney Students Against Destructive Decisions (SSADD), a club focused on high-risk behaviors, decision-making skills, developing the adolescent mind, and improving the overall well-being of Sidney students.
The Sidney Team Institute team, a section of SSADD, is the group who worked heavily on this event. Those students include Anna Egli, Casey Mazzarella, Colin Searles, Elizabeth Thiel, Angelina Picozzi, Shelby Utter, and Deztiny Rivera.
“This is a high-risk behavior that is putting our students and families in a life-or-death situation,” said Jon Yurka, the club’s adviser. “These students worked very hard in educating the school and the public on this important matter.”
