PLTW students visit Amphenol

Sidney students at Amphenol

Sidney CSD’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) students in grades 10-12 recently had the opportunity to tour Amphenol Corporation and meet with staff.

The morning started with a review of the history of Amphenol in Sidney to current locations today in New Mexico, Arizona, and India.

Students were then divided into groups and toured eight stations. Tour guides included Erik Strahl, Greg Peck, Brennen Levis, Jaret Paul, Mike Blanchowicz, Gary Toombs, and Christian Cole. Each station had at least one lead. Stations included Annealing (Pat Dedman), Test Lab (Ryan Perry), Assembly (Matt Rudnitsky), Materials Lab (Chris Love), Design Engineering (Rick Barnes), 3D Prototyping (Kyle Tompkins), High Speed Lab (Joe Rothrock), and ZPS Center (Andrew Jackson). The morning ended with lunch and an opportunity to speak with tour guides and station leads.

Sidney CSD wishes to thank all involved, especially Taylor Lippolis from Amphenol for her coordination of tour guides, stations, lunch, and Amphenol swag. Also, a thank you to PLTA instructor Christine Race for coordinating with Lippolis and helping create this experience for Sidney students.
