The Sidney Central School District has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. The district has also announced its top-10 graduates, as well as the Superintendent Leadership Award winners.

The valedictorian for the Class of 2020 is Kaitlyn Brown, and the salutatorian is Khadija Butt.

Valedictorian
Kaitlyn Brown is focused and has been completely dedicated to succeeding in her studies. Maintaining a 95 or higher average throughout high school, she challenged herself with rigorous college-level coursework and goes beyond all expectations.

Besides success academically, Brown took time to tutor other peers in school, and this year expanded that to tutoring two students outside of school. She volunteers at churches and nursing homes through her participation in Sidney’s InterACT club. She maintains a part-time job, and has been a member of the varsity volleyball team for three years. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Her interest in math and science has led her on the path to majoring in pediatric psychiatry at Binghamton University.

Brown is the daughter of Kimberley Sherman and William Brown.

Salutatorian
Khadija Butt is motivated and kind-hearted and an individual who has excelled academically through her curiosity and learning about the world around her.

She has earned 25 credits toward college, while consistently achieving high honor roll and Superintendent’s list throughout high school.

Outside of academics, she has served as the secretary for InterACT for three years, and has participated in the pancake breakfast, which has allowed her to meet and greet many people from the Sidney community. She’s consistently participated in the high school choral community, and plans to continue that in the community dynamic that musical organizations offer. She is also a member of SSADD, the Spanish Club, and is secretary of the National Honor Society.

Butt plans to attend Binghamton University to study history and political science.
