Two Sidney CSD students earn national honor

Two Sidney CSD students have recently earned the Seal of Biliteracy. '

The nationally recognized honor is for those who research, prepare a presentation to a panel, and respond to questions (without any notecards or help from another source) in a foreign language. This proves they are biliterate and able to read and write in two languages.

Junior Adrienne Paternoster and senior Lindsay Pierce were honored. They had to each earn a certain number of points in each language to earn the prestigious seal. Each will receive a seal on their diploma, and a medal to wear at graduation.

Paternoster, who was an exchange student to Denmark last year, presented in Danish. Pierce presented in Spanish, having taken all levels of Spanish at Sidney. This culminating capstone project took a lot of time and research to prepare in conjunction with mentors Mary Rajner-Morris and Ina Ayala.

Congratulations to both students for this accomplishment!
