Sidney CSD to celebrate School Board Recognition Week

The Sidney Central School District will recognize its Board of Education at the October 15 BOE meeting.
 
The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 21-25 as School Board Recognition Week, but Sidney will honor its BOE a week early because of Sidney’s meeting schedule. 
 
School districts from around the state take part in celebrating this week, which is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. 
 
Sidney will honor BOE members for their commitment to the community and its children. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the high school library and is open to the public.
 
“Members of Sidney’s Board of Education devote countless hours to making sure our district gives our students every opportunity to succeed at school and beyond,” Sidney Superintendent Eben Bullock said. “Board members give citizens a voice in education decision making and work hard with administration to create a shared vision of what our district is now and in the future.”
  • Some of the key work for school boards is to raise student achievement includes:
  • Creating a shared vision for the future of education;
  • Setting the direction of the school district to achieve the highest student performance;
  • Providing accountability for student achievement results;
  • Developing a budget that aligns district resources to improve achievement;
  • Supporting a healthy school district culture in which to work and to learn.

Kerri G. Green (President), Marisa A. Orezzoli (Vice President), Corbin P. Curley, Amanda L. Finch, Thomas M. Hoskins, Daniel M. Owen, and Nancy K. Parsons.
