Sidney CSD eighth grader Makayla Ruiz was honored at the January 14 Board of Education meeting for her accomplishment of winning the school’s spelling bee for the second straight year. 

 

At the BOE meeting, she was presented with a certificate from the board. 

 

Ruiz was a finalist as a sixth grader, and won in seventh grade and then again in December. 

 

She will compete in the regional spelling bee on March 7 at Oneonta State.
