The start of the school year is always a very exciting
time. This year we are especially
excited, as our district continues to make tremendous progress. Starting this year the Board of Education
will communicating on a regular basis, utilizing the District’s webpage. In the coming weeks, there will be an email
address that will be monitored by Board of Education members that will allow
direct access to us to answer questions at the Board of Education level. We of course encourage you to communicate day
to day questions to the administrators and teachers, but if a question comes up
to the direction or you are just not sure who to ask, then utilize the new
email address. This is also a good time
to highlight some great accomplishments from this past year.
Student Achievement
In late August the New York State Department of Education
(NYSED) released 3-8 grade test scores in ELA and Math. We once again were very pleased with our
district’s progress. We were at over
above the state average in every grade level and subject. Equally important our student growth as a
district was recognized to be in the top 10 percent of New York State. The hard work our students put in definitely
led to the great results. In addition,
the preparation, dedication, and professional practice of our teaching staff
has continued to produce some of the best results in our region.
Construction
If you have driven by the schools this summer it is obvious
that there has been a lot of construction happening. We are very pleased that projects are
wrapping up in time for school to start and they are well within the promised
budget. The fields are being utilized
for practices and will continue to be in construction this Fall, but the
construction will not impact the Fall sports programs at all. The boiler project is wrapping up and the
systems will be energized over the next couple of weeks. Classroom cleaning and preparation is underway
and things are coming together just in time for the start of classes on
September 3rd.
Summer Programs
We are very pleased that so many of you (651 students) took
advantage of the 4th Annual Summer Camps and feedback was again this
year very positive and we are glad children took advantage of the opportunity.
