Sidney graduate Ashley Mahlmeister is inducted into the Section Four Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Sidney CSD graduate Ashley Mahlmeister, who was inducted into the Section Four Hall of Fame this past weekend in Binghamton!

Mahlmeister is one of the most accomplished athletes in Sidney history, earning 13 letters in three sports. Six came in spring and winter track and field, four in soccer, and three in volleyball.

Track and field was where she truly excelled. She qualified for the New York State meet four years in a row, capping that run with state championships in the Division II 100-meter hurdles and long jump as a senior in 2009. She also placed third in the triple jump. She followed that up by placing second in all three events at the federation meet.

Overall, she won 11 Section Four championship (three each in spring and winter hurdles, four in the long jump, and one in the triple jump). She currently holds sectional records in the outdoor long jump (19 feet, 6 inches), and indoor long jump (18 2 3/4). Her school records include the long jump, triple jump, and 200-meter dash.

On the volleyball court, she helped Sidney to undefeated regular seasons in 2008 and 2009. The team lost in the section final in each season. Mahlmeister earned second-team all-state honors in 2008.

In soccer, she earned second-team all-state honors in 2008, when Sidney had nine shutouts and finished runner-up in the sectional tournament. As a sophomore striker, Mahlmeister helped Sidney to a second-place spot in sectionals, which was the first time in school history the girls team had advanced to the final.

After graduation, she competed in track and field at SUNY Albany, receiving a bachelors degree. She also earned a master’s degree in sports science medicine at the University of Exter in Exter, England.

Mahlmeister lives in Rochester.
