Sidney CSD names valedictorian and salutatorian
Sidney CSD valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2023

The Sidney Central School District has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. 
 
The valedictorian is Liam Gronwall, and the salutatorian is Holly Bookhout. 
 
The two will speak during the annual graduation ceremony on June 24.
 
Valedictorian
 
Gronwall is an accomplished musician and consistently receiving high academic honors. The president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, he scored 100 percent on Level 6 of the All-State Jazz NYSSMA solo and alternate status. Also a member of the National Honor Society, Gronwall has earned three junior awards toward college. 
 
He also is a member of the Spanish Club and serves as the senior class president. Athletically, he is also a member of the soccer and tennis teams. 
 
Outside of school, Gronwall also earned his Eagle Scout. 
 
After high school, he plans to attend either Le Moyne College or the University of Scranton with plans to complete an MBA, with a possible minor in music. 
 
He is the son of Josh and Emelinda Gronwall.
 
Salutatorian
 
Bookhout is an active member of the Sidney CSD community, including being part of student council, the National Honor Society, InterAct, and Spanish Club. 
 
A consistent name on the Superintendent’s List, she has received numerous awards in high school. She also has won the DAR Good Citizen Award, and the Shirley A. Ford Mathematics Award. 
 
She has also taken part in peer tutoring, and has assisted teaching for college Spanish. She has participated in many community service events. 
 
This fall, she plans to study business administration at SUNY Broome. 
 
Bookhout is the daughter of Todd and Diane Bookhout.
