The Sidney Central School District is setting up stakeholder groups to lead the nickname and mascot change for the district.
Sidney CSD was informed last year that it would not be allowed to use “Warriors” as our nickname anymore. We have taken the steps to remove the nickname throughout the district.
The district is seeking members for the community stakeholder group, which will meet to review information on the process of making the change. The group will assist in developing questions for the survey, which will be sent out to the community. The group will also help review results.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 27 in the Jr/Sr High School Auditorium.
All members, as well as the community at-large, will have the opportunity to submit ideas on what you think our new nickname and mascot should be. Students will have the final vote for both nickname and mascot.
This committee will meet three times: September 27, October 18, and November 1.
