Sidney CSD hosts harvest dinner
The Sidney Central School District hosted a harvest dinner this past Tuesday, celebrating the past year of farm-to-school projects and successes. The dinner helped convene staff, students, family, local farmers, and partner organizations who have made this all possible.

In 2019, Sidney CSD has doubled the size of its high school garden, rebuilt the elementary garden raised beds, and installed the hoop house garden.

These initiatives provide more opportunities for students to get involved with gardening, cooking, and environmental education, all while supplying healthy food to Sidney’s cafeterias.

The harvest dinner featured a fresh garden salad sourced from Sidney’s high school garden, homemade salsa, pasta primavera, Mexican street corn, barbecued chicken, blueberry cobbler, and black bean brownies.

Each menu item sourced ingredients from local farms, including Fantasy Fruit Farm, Chicory Creek Farm, Cascun Farm, and Heller Farm.
