Four Sidney CSD athletes were named to the New York State Sportswriters Association Class C all-state team.
Liam Matthews earned first-team honors as a wide receiver. Matthews, who recently signed a letter of intent to play for Cornell this fall, finished the season with 990 yards and 12 touchdowns on 53 catches. He also rushed eight times for 61 yards and a score, and also had a passing touchdown.
Matthews also played defense, recording 47 tackles and two interceptions.
Three others – junior Zach Harrington and seniors Wyatt Kiff and Cameron Chabot earned honorable mention spots.
Harrington, selected as a running back, carried the ball 178 times this past season for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns. On defense Harrington had 37 tackles, one sack, and one interception.
Kiff, a linebacker, had 59 solo and 22 assists for 81 total tackles. He also recorded one sack and one forced fumble.
Chabot, a lineman, had 36 solo and 15 assists for 51 total tackles. He also had a team-high four sacks and one fumble recovery.
