Tiana Savino is looking to create smiles in the halls of the Sidney Central School District junior/senior high school.

Savino, a senior, has been working to decorate ceiling tiles throughout the building in a way to pay it forward, as well as making students look up and around a bit more often.

“It’s something I can give,” she said. “I just believe in creating something good. There’s no price on a smile.”

Currently, there are fewer than 10 spread out throughout the building. Savino has been working on the tiles at home, and said her siblings – also Sidney CSD graduates – have helped in some spots.

The idea, she said, came by talking things over with fellow Sidney Students Against Destructive Decisions members. There are murals and people create posters, but why not tackle the ceiling tiles?

Savino said she took the idea to administrators, who supported the project.

“It’s nice looking up,” she said. “It shows the bright side of things. I want it to show kindness and positivity and I want people to smile.”
