The Sidney Central School football team received a sendoff on Friday afternoon as they headed to Syracuse for a Class D state semifinal against Maple Grove.
The Warriors were recognized during an assembly. After boarding the bus for Syracuse the team then received a police escort through the horseshoe in front of the school, where students lined the sidewalks to cheer them on.
The game against Maple Grove is at 5 p.m. Friday. The winner advances to the state championship next week.
