The Sidney Central School District is getting ready to show its stripes.

Sidney sixth grader Francisco LaBoy and his mother spent time at the Ronald McDonald House when he was younger. Francisco, as a three-year old, had a tumor and needed numerous trips to Rochester, where he and his mother stayed at a Ronald McDonald House.

As a fundraiser, teacher Tauna LaBare has sold striped socks as the fundraiser, selling them to staff and faculty to where the red and white striped socks to “wear stripes to show you care.” All proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House.

The school recently opened sock sales to high school students during lunch, and has extended the offer to community members and parents on the school store website.

Tuesday, Nov. 25 has been designated “Wear your stripes to show you care day” as Sidney. Parents and community members are encouraged to purchase and wear these socks for that day as well.

You can also visit the Rochester Ronald McDonald House website, which has a video in which Francisco and his mother appear.
