REMINDER: The new website and mobile app has our daily breakfast and lunch menus in a different spot.

For a reminder of summer meal information, please see the attached flier. Meals will be served at the elementary school from July 7-July 31, and at the Jr/Sr HS from August 4-20. Breakfast and lunch is served each day Monday-Thursday. Meals are free for children aged 18 and under.

To access the daily menu:

On the website: You can access is from the district, or any school page. Choose the "explore" menu and at the top there is a link for dining. Click on that and you can access the menus. A drop-down menu will let you access different weeks etc.

You can access it on the mobile app by clicking the three lines in the top left corner from any of the school pages, and click on dining. The daily menu, too, will be on the main page of each building.

Toward the end of the school year, representatives from Sidney Federal Credit Union helped put on a real-world event for seniors.

The event centered on seniors having to react to real-world events to understand budgets. With a chosen career and salary, students had to go to different tables and understand different variables of what happens with their money, as well as what kind of bills and expenses they can expect.

The end result was showing the students that they often will have to make tough decisions and understand the big difference between wants and needs.

Thank you to SFCU for continuing to partner with the Sidney Central School District to help prepare students for their futures!

The eighth-grade team (Mrs. Stento, Ms. Harclerode, Ms. Howard, and Mr. Sims) were trained in Project-Based Learning this year. Students recently had the culmination of a project, which was a social studies/ELA project about people who are making “good trouble.” Students researched a topic of their choice and created a pop-up museum exhibit. And thanks to a wonderful day of weather, they were able to utilize one of Sidney’s new outdoor learning spaces for the museum. All eighth-grade students were able to visit the exhibits and ask questions. Other projects this year included a Spanish/ELA project, as well as a math/social studies project. Great job! #SidneyPRIDE #SidneySabers #SidneyCSD

Earlier this month, first graders in Mrs. Woodyshek’s class culminated a lesson with camping in the classroom. Students did camping math in their tents, ate s’mores, went fishing for math facts, and made bug jars with their fingerprints. A fun finish to a lesson! #SidneyPRIDE #SidneySabers #SidneyCSD

This event celebrates the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our students and dedicated staff as we wrap up this school year! Also, elementary school yearbooks will be available. The yearbooks are $35. Cash or check (payable to SES Yearbook) are accepted. After June 25, the yearbook will be available in the ES attendance office. Full information: The ceremony will recognize students with: - Academic awards - Special area awards - Band and chorus recognition - PRIDE Awards A photo backdrop will also be available so families can take their own photos after the event. Since it is an outdoor event, families are welcome to: - Apply sunscreen to children before school - Have students wear hats and/or sunglasses the day of the event - Send their student(s) with water Parking information: - Available near the athletic field/transportation center - Across the road from the event - Additional overflow parking behind the school Dismissal reminder: - After the celebration, parents/guardians who wish to sign their child out early may do so at the field. - Look for tables organized by grade level - Only one authorized adult (who has either sent a note, or is listed on the pickup form) should approach the sign-out table - All other family members should remain seated, or return to their vehicles - This process ensures a safe and smooth dismissal for everyone. - Students who are not signed out early will follow their normal dismissal plans, including after-school program students. Inclement weather note: Should there be inclement weather, the event would be moved indoors. Because of spacing limitations, a link will be given to families for a live stream of the event. #SidneyPRIDE #SidneySabers #SidneyCSD

In February, Sidney Elementary embraced the power of kindness! From friendly greetings to helping a classmate, every act earned a colorful chain link, which built a chain of kindness for each grade. The grade that with the most kindness acts in K-2 was the first grade and they earned a breakfast with Principal Wood – complete with delicious toppings and time to connect!
