For 28 years, Race has served as a technology teacher at Sidney, exemplifying the Rotary ideal of “service above self.” In a letter to Rotary recommending Race, Sidney Superintendent Eben Bullock wrote “(Her) impact on students, colleagues, and the broader school community has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her career reflects the very essence of vocational service—dedication to one’s profession, commitment to youth, and a passion for improving lives through education.”
A dedicated educator who builds meaningful relationships with all students she serves, Bullock said “Mrs. Race consistently challenges students to think critically, problem-solve creatively, and apply real-world engineering concepts. Her classroom is a space where innovation thrives, curiosity is encouraged, and students of all backgrounds feel supported and empowered.”
She continues to positively impact students, helping them discover career pathways, develop confidence, and learn the value of perseverance and teamwork. She’s done the same by coaching a variety of athletic teams, leading with the same excellence, care, and commitment.
Bullock concluded by saying “Her unwavering dedication to education, her students, and the Sidney community make her an exceptionally deserving recipient of the Vocational Excellence Award. It is an honor to recognize her lifelong commitment to excellence and service.”
The Sidney Central School District is proud of Mrs. Race and what she means to the district and students. Congratulations once again for this wonderful recognition and award!
