Summer Enrichment Program

Welcome!

Welcome to the Sidney Central School District Summer Enrichment program for 2024! 

The Summer Enrichment Programs will run July 8- August 1 (Monday-Thursday). 

  • Week 1: July 8-11
  • Week 2: July 15-18
  • Week 3: July 22-25
  • Week 4: July 29-August 1
The Summer Sports Camps will run July 8-July 25 (Monday-Thursday)

  • Week 1: July 8-11 (field hockey or baseball)
  • Week 2: July 15-18 (softball, tennis, or track)
  • Week 3: July 22-25 (basketball)
During registration (link on the right side of the page), you will select the week(s) your child will attend - one registration form per child. 

Within each week's description there is a list of programs that will be offered throughout the day.  Students will be divided into 5 different groups. 

Breakfast will be available from 7:40 - 8 a.m., and lunch/recess will be provided from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.  There is no cost for breakfast or lunch. Students do not need to attend summer programs to participate in the free meal program.

Transportation is available for Sidney CSD students at the beginning and end of day, there is NO mid-day transportation

Please note: Registration for the Summer Enrichment program and the Summer Sports Camps are separate! If you would like you child to participate in the Sports Camp, as well as the Summer Enrichment Program, you must sign them up for both. 

Enrollment for the entire summer is open to all students and is on a first come, first serve basis. Priority will be given to students who reside in the Sidney Central School District.

WEEK 1 (K-1ST GRADE)
JULY 8-11

Space Explorers: Space Explorers is an interactive program designed to ignite curiosity in students about the wonders of space exploration. Through engaging activities, captivating stories, and hands-on experiments, young explorers embark on a journey through the cosmos. They learn about planets, stars, and galaxies, discovering the mysteries of our universe.
 
What's the “Buzz” about Bees?: Welcome to Buzzing Bees, where young learners embark on an exciting journey into the fascinating world of these tiny yet vital creatures! This summer school program offers a buzzing blend of education and fun, designed to captivate young minds, and foster a love for nature.
 
Bubbly Bilinguals: We will use groups to maintain Structure within the class using activities that they will find interesting to help with their engagement in projects.( Highlight to encourage -Embrace Bilingual Creativity!
 
Summer Around the World: Embark on an amazing and educational adventure around the world with our Summer Around the World summer enrichment program! Throughout this program, students will dive into the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and customs of various countries across the globe. Each day will be a new exploration, offering an immersive experience designed to foster cultural appreciation, global awareness, and curiosity for students.
 
Crafting the Summer Away: Paint, markers, crayons! If you like to craft and create hands-on designs with some fun twists involved, check out Crafting Away the Summer!

WEEK 1 (2ND-3RD GRADE)
JULY 8-11

Blast from the past: Let’s transport to different time periods and places while exploring the lives of the children of the past! Together we can engage in a variety of activities and games inspired by history, while comparing what life was like for kids in the past and now! Come experience music, fashion, sports, games, entertainment and all different trends and fads of the past! Then we can make your very own time capsule to capture all your favorite things and cherished memories!
 
Act it out: Learn how to express yourself by following a given script and a small scene.
 
Sci Kids: Students will be able to put their engineering skills and inquisitive minds to good use. Through a variety of hands-on activities, students will dive into engineering, weather and climate, and states of matter units to learn first-hand about the world around us.
 
Dance/Fitness and Healthy Bodies: Students will get a basic introduction to dance through a variety of games and activities. Students will be able to learn how dance keeps their bodies healthy and strong.
 
Witches & Wizards: Young wizards and witches get ready to enter a world where things are not as they seem! Learn the secret arts of potions, astronomy, mysterious creatures and more. Craft your own wand, play games and prepare for a wild ride of fantasy nature adventures while exploring our magical world.
 
WEEK 1 (4TH-6TH GRADE)
JULY 8-11

Games of probability: Learning how to play games and do teamwork is always fun. In this camp they will learn how to do real life skills that encourage them to play, but also learn at the same time. Often math can be found everywhere, and what better way to learn how math works than to play games!
 
Water Bottle Flipping: Do you enjoy bottle flipping? Do you get excited when you successfully flip the bottle upright? This week, we will be experimenting with water bottles and determining what is the precise water level, container, or items needed to effectively bottle flip. You will leave this session with all the scientific explanations you need to be a successful bottle flipper.
 
Creative Construction: Do you love to create? Are you interested in making hands-on crafts and taking on the challenge of designing and building? Join Mrs. Neale to bring your creative ideas to life! This summer we will be making handmade crafts and designing and building fascinating structures! Prepare to let your original ideas shine as we get creative together!
 
Crack the code: Do you like a good challenge? Can you crack the code? If so, come join Mrs. Nichols as we work together to navigate our way through escape rooms, logic puzzles, and various challenges. We will put our patience and minds to the ultimate test. Do you have what it takes? Yes, you do! We'll see you there!
 
Garden/Cooking: In this class we will go out to the PRIDE garden and see how our spring plants are growing. We will pick vegetables that are ready to be harvested and make either a snack, side dish or a meal.

WEEK 2 (K-1ST GRADE)
JULY 15-18

Nature Week: Do you love the outdoors and nature? Let's take time learning about the outdoors with fun activities and crafts!
 
A Summer Safari: Jump aboard, explorers! It’s time to go exploring on an African safari. Grab your binoculars and safari hats and join me for A Safari Summer Camp! Campers will learn about animals in the jungle, make their own safari hats and cameras, care for animals, move like monkeys, and make safari snacks. It is going to be a WILD ride!
 
Summertime Treats: Summertime and the treats are fine! If you enjoy delicious treats that are easy, fun and easy to make, come check out Summertime Treats!
 
Kids Camp Out: Summertime often leads to time spent around a campfire with friends! Come join the excitement that you may typically find on campgrounds, but now have the opportunity to do right at school! The days will be filled with scavenger hunts, creating silly stories, using materials in nature to create bird feeders, exploring animal prints, making s’mores, playing card games and more!
 
Repurposed Creations: In this creative recycling class, you will use material and find solutions to create a specific item , projects or creations that will use daily items that can be recycled, reused and repurposed.
 
WEEK 2 (2ND-3RD GRADE)
JULY 15-18

Aquaponics: A New way of Growing: In this class you will learn the Aquaponics system and how it works, we will discuss how to care for the different kinds of fish and continue to plant new crops. We will go out to the PRIDE garden and see how our plants are growing and see if they need to be harvested. We will compare the outdoor plants to the indoor Aquaponics plants.
 
Math Games: Do you love to play games? Do you love to solve riddles and puzzles? You can use your math skills to help you do both! In this camp we will explore various math skills and apply them to hand on games and activities to further develop our inquiry and logic skills.
 
Fairy Gardens: With a little Fairy dust & sparkly wings…we will create a special garden filled with magical things! We will learn how to create your very own fairy garden with items you would find in nature.

WEEK 2 (4TH-6TH GRADE)
JULY 15-18

Under the Sea: Are you interested in learning more about the ocean? Are you fascinated by animals that live in the sea? You will get to learn about an ocean animal of your choice and create projects and crafts that will be featured in a gallery walk. If you’re a technology wizard, you’ll get to dazzle us with your online presentation. More of a crafter? Design a project and add your own artistic spin.
 
Snazzy Summer Science Fair: Erupting volcanoes! Shaking earthquakes! Twisting tornadoes! Have you ever wanted to conduct our own science experiment? Now you can! You will choose your own science experiment and put it into action. After your experiment has been completed, you will develop a presentation and showcase your findings at our mini science fair!
 
Math Cards: Learning how to play games and do team work is always fun. In this camp they will learn how to do real life skills that encourage them to play, but also learn at the same time. Often math can be found everywhere, and what better way to learn how math works than to play games!
 
Read Aloud Stem: Do you like to build things out of everyday items? Have you ever read a story and pondered that you could do that too? This week, we will read a different story each day and construct an item that goes with the story. You will leave this week with new insights on water pumps, water filters, upcycling plastic bags, and solar ovens.

Garden/Cooking: In this class we will go out to the PRIDE garden and see how our spring plants are growing. We will pick vegetables that are ready to be harvested and make either a snack, side dish or a meal.

WEEK 3 (K-1ST GRADE)
JULY 22-25
 
Isla Encanto: Come join us on Isla Encanto (on a tropical island) where we will learn Espanol (Spanish) by using instruments, colors, crafts and more.
 
In a World of Eric Carle: Bears, Seahorses, Grouchy Ladybugs and Hungry Caterpillars are all in the world of Eric Carle. Read some stories and look at some creative illustrations to learn about the author and illustrator Eric Carle!
 
Summer of Seuss: Oh, the places you’ll go when you choose to be a part of our Summer of Seuss Camp! Start by learning with the mischievous Cat in the Hat, play together when we Hop on Pop, and find out if you can really enjoy Green Eggs and Ham. We will also engage in Dr. Seuss crafts to stoke our imagination and creativity. We always remember what Dr. Seuss said: “The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go!”
 
A Week at the Beach: Do you love the beach? Are you curious about the ocean? Together we will explore the deep seas. We will read books about the ocean, complete underwater animal and beach themed crafts, and enjoy ocean-themed activities, songs, and games. Discover what it would be like to swim in the ocean as we play in the water and sand. Bring your beach bag and I’ll meet you at the beach!
 
Snazzy Sidney Scientist: Do you love nature? This camp is for you! Come hang out at the pond while we hop around with the frogs, fly with the butterflies, and grow alongside beautiful plants. We will be exploring various life cycles each day through reading books, creating crafts, singing songs, and playing games that help us to learn. Come join the fun!
 
WEEK 3 (2ND-3RD GRADE)
JULY 22-25

Summer Around the World: Embark on an amazing and educational adventure around the world with our Summer Around the World summer enrichment program! Throughout this program, students will dive into the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and customs of various countries across the globe. Each day will be a new exploration, offering an immersive experience designed to foster cultural appreciation, global awareness, and curiosity for students.
 
Explore with Nature: Learn and explore the wonderful world of nature with both inside and outside activities. Learn about insects, plants, flowers and forest animals through books, crafts and hands-on activities!
 
Game show Extravaganza: Put your trivia knowledge to test! We are going to participate in a wide range of game shows. Some examples are Family Feud, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, etc. You will work together with your team to battle against other teams. There may even be a chance to win some prizes.

Gamers Club: Are you looking for a friendly competition or an opportunity to try new games? Have you ever wondered how video games are created or what careers use technology regularly? Gamers club is a time to play and compete with friends in activities of all kinds! Come join in the fun while playing new games including board games, video games, robots, Osmos and more!
 
Dance/Fitness and Healthy Bodies: Students will get a basic introduction to dance through a variety of games and activities. Students will be able to learn how dance keeps their bodies healthy and strong.
 
Aquaponics: A New way of Growing: In this class you will learn the Aquaponics system and how it works, we will discuss how to care for the different kinds of fish and continue to plant new crops. We will go out to the PRIDE garden and see how our plants are growing and see if they need to be harvested. We will compare the outdoor plants to the indoor Aquaponics plants.
 
Teamwork Games: Come join us this summer and continue your physical health and prepare for the upcoming school year!! Teamwork Games and Workouts will include cardio and muscular endurance.
 
Board Game Math: Learning how to play games and do teamwork is always fun. In this camp they will learn how to do real life skills that encourage them to play, but also learn at the same time. Often math can be found everywhere, and what better way to learn how math works than to play games!

WEEK 4 (K-1ST GRADE)
JULY 22-25

Animal Adventure: Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Journey through the jungle, have fun in the forest, and adventure through the arctic with Mrs. Neale. Together we will read books about different animals and their habitats and create crafts featuring different animals you might see in the wild. Students will have opportunities for creative play and will complete animal movement activities. Join me for a week on safari!
 
Campers Have S’more Fun: Have you ever been in the wilderness? Do you enjoy sitting around a campfire? If so, join Mrs. Nichols as we go on a camping expedition! We will be enjoying our very own camping experience through exciting books, catchy songs, creative crafts that you might enjoy while you are camping. See you in the woods!
 
Zen Kids: We will focus on the art of being mindful. Mindfulness is being aware of the things that are happening right now, such as how our body may be feeling, recognizing things we can hear and see nearby, or even things we can smell! When we consistently practice mindfulness, our ability to stay focused increases, helping us improve our attention in many areas of life! We will learn about and explore mindfulness strategies through fun and engaging activities that are hoped to increase our focus throughout the day.
 
Water and Ice: Which is better, water or ice? Enjoy some water play, melt some ice in different ways and explore the difference between the two!
 
Dinosaur Week: Do you love dinosaurs? Let's explore and learn more about them with various learning activities and crafts!
 
WEEK 4 (2ND-3RD GRADE)
JULY 22-25

Pirates and Mermaids: Ahoy ye pirates and mermaids! Join me this summer as we spend a week learning about Pirates & Mermaids. Each day, campers will read about both pirates and mermaids and engage in themed crafts. Have fun painting seashells, decorating edible mermaid tales, and making pirate hats! We will also be incorporating different facts about the ocean, such as coral reefs and different animals!

Around the World: Have you ever wondered what life would be like in another country? Together we will develop a love for exploration through fun activities, taste testing, crafts and virtual field trips that will spark your curiosity about many different cultures around the world! Learn more about the fascinating traditions that make up our world!
 
Yard Games Galore: Prepare yourself for summer BBQs by perfecting your yard game skills. We are going to learn how to play a variety of yard games. Some examples are cornhole, ladder golf, bocce ball, etc. Participate in tournaments and work with your partner to become the ultimate champions.
 
Reading is fun: Each day we will read a book together! After reading the book we will create a craft relating to the book that we read.
 
WEEK 4 (4TH-6TH GRADE)
JULY 22-25

WEEK 1
JULY 8-11

Field Hockey: In this session students will be able to get outside and learn new skills of a sport they may have never tried before. Or, if they are already familiar, it is a great opportunity to build on those skills to get ready for the next step of field hockey. We will be playing games to learn skills and develop game-like situations.
 
Baseball: Our baseball summer camp is the perfect opportunity for young athletes to develop their skills, learn important techniques, and improve their game in a fun and supportive environment. Our coaches will provide personalized instruction in all aspects of the game, including hitting, fielding, pitching, and base running. In addition to honing their skills, Sidney Saber campers will learn about sportsmanship, teamwork, and the importance of a positive attitude on the field.

WEEK 2 
JULY 15-18
 
Softball: Students who participate in the Summer Softball Camp will work on the fundamentals of softball - throwing, catching, pitching, fielding, and hitting through instruction and games. They will also learn important life skills like communication and collaboration needed to be on a team. Students will need to have a glove to participate - if you do not have one, please let us know ahead of time so we can gather extra gloves, if needed.
 
Tennis: Learn how to play tennis, keep score in a game and play a game against other students in double/single matches.
 
Track and Field: Specialized Coaching: Athletes will receive personalized attention and guidance to maximize their potential.

(Track and Field) Progressive Training Modules: The camp will include a structured program with proven results that covers various aspects of speed development, including sprint mechanics, acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, and reaction time. Training modules will be progressively challenging to ensure continuous improvement.

(Track and Field) Recovery Strategies: Understanding the importance of recovery, our program will incorporate recovery sessions, including stretching, flexibility exercises, core strength, and other recovery techniques, to enhance performance and prevent injuries.

Basketball: Get ready to sharpen your skills and dominate the court at our summer basketball camp! Our coaches will provide expert instruction in shooting, dribbling, passing, defense and more. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn the basics or a seasoned player wanting to take your game to the next level, our camp is the perfect place to improve your skills and have a blast with fellow basketball enthusiasts. Join us this summer for a week of engaging drills, games, and endless fun on the court!
