Seniors visit sixth graders Seniors talk with sixth graders about future
Seniors from Scott Hertzog’s English 12 class met with sixth graders from Jackie Neale’s class recently to talk about the future. 
 
Student’s in Neale’s class have been working on a book project and shared those with the seniors, who prepared letters of advice to individual students in Neale’s class. Hertzog’s students outlined what to expect as the elementary students head into middle school, as well as talking about what they’ve learned and offer advice.

Barring no emergency days before Friday, May 24, that day will be off for staff and students at the Sidney Central School District. 
Band Members of the Month May 2019 Band Members of the Month
Katelyn Jackson and Dylan Neer have been named the Band Members of the Month for the junior high and high school bands, respectively.
 
Third quarter awards: Grades 6-12

These awards include Superintendent's List, High Honor Roll, and Honor Roll.
 
National Honor Society and Tri-M Honor Society inductions 2019 Sidney NHS inducts 15; Tri-M adds 5

The Sidney CSD recently held its annual induction ceremony for the National Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. 

The National Honor Society welcomed one new senior member, as well as 14 new junior members. Tri-M added five members

The NHS went through qualifications (scholarship, character, leadership, and service), signed the membership book and took the pledge. Tri-M members were introduced, took the pledge, and held the recognition and song. 

 
2019 Sidney selection for Girls State Junior selected for Girls State
Sidney CSD junior Lindsay Pierce has been selected to attend Empire Girls State at SUNY Brockport in July.

Empire Girls State is an educational experience with hands-on workshops on government and the political process. It is designed to create a government from the county to the state level. This mythical 51st state allows students to learn the privileges and responsibilities of citizenship in a democratic society.
