The Sidney boys bowling team, playing in their first New York State Public High School (NYSPHSAA) state tournament, placed third on Sunday. Sidney finished with a 5,766 over six games at AMF Strike ‘N Spare in Syracuse. The Warriors were second following the first three games at the Division II tournament.
Lansinburgh won the 10-team tournament 6,213, followed by Tonawanda with 5,906.
Jacob Ostrander led Sidney with a 206.5 average, including the fifth-highest game of the tournament with a 256 in game three. Ostrander, who placed sixth overall, also rolled games of 239 and 216. Ryan Cole, who placed eighth, had a 200.17 average, with four games above 200, including a high of 244 in game two.
