The Sidney Central School District has set dates for its open house events.The Jr/Sr high school will be held on Wednesday, October 13, and the elementary school will be on Thursday, October 14.

The Sidney Central School Observatory will hold a viewing session from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 3.The featured attractions for the night will be the first quarter moon, Mars, and Venus. Both planets will be in the southwestern sky. Several telescopes will be available for viewing, including the main scope inside the dome.

Ethan Moodley and Angelina Picozzi have been named the Band Member of the Month at Sidney Central School.Moodley plays trumpet in the junior high band, and Picozzi plays the flute in the high school band.
The Perry Outreach Program, a one-day, hands-on experience for high school and college-aged women interested in careers in medicine and engineering, will be held Saturday, May 6 at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY.Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments.
The Sidney Central School District is working with parents, employees, community members, and students in grades 5-12 to develop its new strategic plan. District leaders are asking you to participate in the Strategic Planning Survey, which is open through November 27. This survey asks about your views of the district and its future. Survey questions address academic preparation, resources and programming, facilities, student support, equity, school culture, and more.
Members of the Sidney Central School Interact Club gave some community service this past weekend, as they helped rake and week Molly’s Garden at the Sidney Memorial Public Library.The students were provided rakes, clippers, and gloves. They worked for about two hours, cleaning up the flower beds and preparing them for winter. Mary Jane Plummer and Emily Worsnopp directed the students during the day.
