Emergency closing procedures for Sidney Central School District
The decision to close or delay school occurs between 4:15 and 6:00 a.m. The following communication procedure will be used to communicate to students, community, and staff.
Mid-day school closing
During the school year, there is the possibility that students will need to be sent home early. Once a decision is reached, the district will provide a minimum of an hour and half prior notice. All after-school activities will be canceled, including the after-school program.
School delay information
One-hour delay: School doors will open at 8:40 am
Two-hour delay: School doors will open at 9:40 am
Three-hour delay: School doors will open at 10:40 am
All bus stop arrivals will be delayed the same number of hours. Please note during inclement weather, busses may be delayed past a typical arrival time.
After-school activities
When school is closed due to inclement weather, all extracurricular programs, after-school programs, and school events are canceled (except school Board of Education meetings).
